While we can’t claim that these are the first images of the unreleased adidas Predator D5 football boots, they are without a doubt the best on the web! In a Soccer Reviews exclusive, we post about the Blue/Infrared colorway of the new adidas Predator D5. Thanks to Yanis for sending us these fantastic images (thank him in the comment section)!Â
adidas Predators have always been known for their sturdy build and powerful strength, yet people often complained about the heavy, bulky boot. With every new edition, the Predator has shed some of its weight slowly evolving into the Predator D5, adidas’ new control boot. With “5 deadly zones to master all aspects of your gameâ€, this new Predator promises to give you a serious advantage over your opposition with its new innovative features.
adidas has replaced the soft leather upper with a newly redesigned synthetic leather that allows for “incredible touch, durability and ball feelâ€. They’ve also added the Traxion SprintFrame outsole, similar to the adidas adiPower Predators which helps shed the extra weight and gives additional support. Perhaps the biggest difference with these new Predators is the fact that these D5′s have “ball control characteristics†never before seen on adidas boots.
The two questions everyone has are; “Why is adidas copying the Nike CTR360 Maestri range?” and “Why are they putting it under the Predator name?” The answers are, the control silo has proven to be one of the most lucrative on the market, and adidas simply need to enter it to compete with Nike on all levels. We’ve even heard rumors that PUMA will be following suit by creating a control boot of their own. As for the Predator name, the Soccer Reviews staff believes that adidas are thinking that they will be able to have more success with a tried and tested collection of boots than starting a whole new range. The adidas Predator range is the highest selling of all time, and they will be hoping to tap into that potential with the new adidas Predator D5.
The upper is riddled with control elements which obviously serve as adidas’ first answer to the Nike CTR360 Maestri. There appear to be two separate types of elements, those with raised middles and those with friction enhancing dots, probably another adaptation of the adidas adiPower Predator swerve zone.
In the same placement on the instep as the CTR’s Pass Pad, adidas have outlined a small zone, however it appears that there isn’t any technology included in the instep area.
As with all adidas boots going forward, the adidas Predator D5 will feature MiCoach technology on the outsole. MiCoach is a technology that tracks all your statistics in game, and appears to be a very interesting feature that might set adidas boots apart.
It appears that adidas’ slogan for the Predator D5 will be “Master the Ball.” Maestri…Master; any similarities you can see between these and the Nike CTR360 Maestri?
