BOOT SPOTTING 11-12 FEBRUARY

Monday has rolled around once more and that means another bunch of fresh boot spots from the Premier League.
The weekend’s headlines have been dominated by the firey Manchester United v Liverpool game with Luis Saurezseemingly heaping more controversy onto his already long list of misconduct. The Uruguayan did find the back of the net however – interestingly in an older pair of Blue/Slime AdiZero II boots.

Another big game this weekend was Newcastle’s trip to White Heart Lane. In the end Spurs ran out easy 5-0 winners with the goal fest started by Benoit Assou-Ekotto.  The Spurs left-back has been wearing mismatched boots over the past few weeks. First Benoit had different AdiPower colourways on each foot and then wore an AdIpower on his left and an AdiZero MiCoach on his right. This weekend however Benoit had Black/Warning AdiZero boots on both feet.

Harry Redknapp has a knack of getting the best out of players many have thought are past their best. He looks to have done it again with Louis Saha after the ex-Fulham, Manchester United and Everton man grabbed a brace in his first start for Spurs.  Saha looked sharp on the field as did his White/Blue/Warning AdIpower Predator boots – a TRW favourite.

After spotting Frank Lampard in the new White/High Energy AdiPure 11Pro during the warm up we expected to see the Chelsea star wearing them against Everton. Lampard (right) however opted to stick with his AdiPure IV boots instead making it yet another week that one of Adidas’ main AdiPure wearers has delayed switching.

There are a host of player who have stuck with the AdiZero II and not gone into MiCoach AdiZero boots. One colourway which was immensely popular when they were launched and still proving popular is the White/Cyan/Pink colourway the likes of Liverpool’s Daniel Agger and QPR’s Fitz Hall have been wearing the past few weeks.

Adidas’ AdiZero football boots are way out in front of the Premier League’s top scoring boot table. Fulham’s Pavel Pogrebnyak had a dream start to his Premier League career. The tall Russian scored on debut in the Energy/Warning AdiZero MiCoach launch colourway to help Fulham defeat Stoke City and add to AdiZero’s goal tally.

Peter Odemwingie scored a hat-trick for West Bromwich Albion as The Baggies struck 5 to beat Wolves 5-1 to move them up into 14th ahead of Aston Villa while leaving Wolves in the relegation zone. Odemwingie opted for the Granite/Purple/White/Red colourway have previously worn the latest Purple/Silver colourway.

Joe Hart has quickly become one of Umbro’s main men. The Manchester City number 1 has established himself as England’s number – both of whom are sponsored by Umbro. Hart’s kit and equipment currently match perfectly with his Black/Green Gemotra Pro boots and Black/Green Geometra Pro Touch gloves perfectly matching his green Man City kit.

Arsenal’s promising young winger Ryo Miyaichi made his Premier League and Bolton debut when he came off the bench against Wigan. The 19 year old Japanese star has scored in a behind closed doors friendly for Bolton but couldn’t repeat that feat over the weekend when he came on at half time in Purple/Silver Nike Superfly III boots.

Miyaichi’s parent club was busy moving ahead of Chelsea into forth as they earned a hard fought win over Sunderland. Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie struck a hat-trick last weekend in Black/Warning AdiPower Predators but gave the new Slime/Navy/White colourway their debut this weekend.

Our final boot spot is partly a farewell as we say goodbye to Thierry Henry. The New York Red Bull striker played his last Premier League game this weekend off the bench – and as his fairytale return to Arsenal would have expected – scored the Gunners’ winner.  Henry was the first to wear Puma’s King SL boots in the Premier League and has since been joined by Arsenal teammate Mikel Arteta.
