BOOT SPOTTING 25-26 FEBRUARY

Ryan Giggs played his 900th game for Manchester United this weekend and it was the Welsh veteran who popped up with an injury time winner to keep the champions in touch with City. Giggs has been wearing a leather Reebok boot, that are not available in store. We have seen both a White/Red and White/Blue colourway of the boot which we believe to be custom colourways of his limited edition RG800 boots. This weekend however Giggs celebrated his 900th appearance with a White/Gold pair.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto seems intent on wearing two different colourways. The Spurs fullback wore an AdiPower Predator and an AdiZero before wearing two Black/Warning AdiZeros. This weekend however he was back in different boots as he combined his right Black/Warning AdiZero with a Blue/Core Energy AdiZero.

Spur’s trip to the Emirates was the game of the weekend with the Gunners recording a morale boosting victory over their North London rivals. Arsenal’s young fullback Carl Jenkins returned from injury wearing a pair of White/Red AdiZero RS7 boots which are the rugby specific version of Adidas’ successful AdiZero silo.

The Blue/Core Energy colourway has been a big hit in the Premier League since their release with most AdiZero wearers changing into the colourway – including Sunderland’s Frazier Campbell. Campbell, despite only just returning from a lengthy injury layoff has impressed Stuart Peirce and finds himself in the England squad to play Holland this week.

Adidas’ Slime/Navy AdiPower colourway is the last new colourway we will see on pitches before the new Predator is released. It already seems to be a big hit with the players with the likes of Nani, van Persie and Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko all changing into the new colourway.

We have waited a long time to see one of Umbro’s major players to switch into the new Speciali 3 and it seemsDarren Bent is the first. The likes of Terry and Carroll remain in Speciai R boots while Bent has traded his custom Yellow/Purple colourway in for the new Speciali 3.

Bobby Zamora has been in a Silver/Gold pair of unreleased Under Armour boots for a few months but this weekend popped up in a White/Black/Red pair which will be the launch colourway of Under Armour’s Hydrastrike II boots.

Stoke City’s Marc Wilson looks to have ditched Lotto after being spotted in Nike CTR360 boots this weekend. The former Portsmouth defender previously wore Lotto’s Zhero Evolution boots but looks to have switched to CTRs like fellow ex-Lotto wearer Glen Johnson did.

Our final Premier League boots spot comes from the sideline where new Wolves boss Terry Connor took charge for the first time since the sacking of Mick McCarthy. Connor didn’t get off to a bad start after his side earned a point against high flying Newcastle. Connor gave the orders from the sideline in a pair of Nike Tiempo Legend III boots.

While the Premier League continued, Liverpool were winning silverware as they beat Cardiff in the Carling Cup.Stuart Downing is one of a handful of players who have been given Adidas’ alternate Black/Electricity colourway (a colourway we are big fans of here at TRW)to wear instead of the Blue/Core Energy colourway.
