Midweek Boot Spot: 24/11/11

With the Champions League group stage two weeks away from ending, teams are beginning to shake in their boots, with the most notable being Chelsea, Manchester City AND Manchester United as all three are staring into the cold, hard eyes of elimination. That aside, we bring you faithful readers our usual pick of boot spots from around the world. Let’s see what we have on show today…

Hulk (Porto) – Mizuno Morelia Neo
Ah ha! We have reason to believe that Hulk is putting the Morelia Neo through its paces, despite the fact that it has already been unveiled in Japan. We do know that the Neo is Mizuno’sequivalent of Nike’s Elite and adidas’ SL range. The brand from Japan are certainly stepping up their game.
Ahmed al-Nahawi (Qatar) – Nike Mercurial Vapor V
This colourway was a favourite of ours for sure. You can’t beat a crisp combination of Platinum/Red as it always makes for a great looking colourway. We for one would love to see a similar colourway on the Vapor VIII next year, although it seems highly unlikely.
Marek Cech (Trabzonspor) – Nike T90 Laser Elite
Yes, we do love a good old Elite spot and this is probably our pick of the bunch. The Elite WCLaser was a fantastic looking boot and you’re lucky to catch more than a glimpse of them these days.
Seydou Keita (Barcelona) – PUMA 1.06
Keita normally rocks up in a pair of PUMA boots, and this was the case at the San Siro… but he turned out in pair of 1.06s! These boots were released prior to the 2006 World Cup and it’s great to see such old greats on the pitch these days. We apologise for the poor photo, but we thank you readers for helping us out with this spot.
Unknown Player (FC Crotone) – Nike Mercurial Superfly II
Pink boots are bright and always the centre of attention. This Cherry edition released last year was very popular with the players and fans alike and it’s great to see some players pull their pair on from time-to-time. We wonder if Nike will continue their pink trend with the release of theVapor VIII
Unknown Player (Serbia) – Nike Mercurial Vapor IV
Ah, we’ve found one of the best looking boots of all time in a womens’ Euro 2013 qualification match! Kudos to the unknown lady sporting the classy Marina/Volt Vapors as these boots were one of several great colourways that graced the Vapor’s fourth incarnation.
Vincent Kompany (Manchester City) – Nike CTR360 Maestri II
At long last! City’s rock at the back, Kompany, has found himself a new pair of boots! Nike’shighly regarded Maestri boot to be exact. We approve.
Nichols Mitchell (Australia) – Nike T90 Laser III
Australia were in action during the week as they look to secure their place in London’s 2012 Olympics. Of course, we were more interested in the boots on show, with Mitchell here sporting one of the first colourways – as a matter of fact, the first leather colourway of the Laser III.
