NEXT UP: PREVIEW UMBRO SPECIALI III

We’ve got an exclusive little preview of what you can expect from the Umbro Speciali III Pro today, including the question that everyone’s been asking, whether Umbro’s newest heritage boot will be worth the $200 that Umbro have raised the price to.

All in all, based on comments made by someone who has been wearing the Umbro Speciali III, they are a brilliant boot. Despite the number of changes Umbro have brought in they haven’t gone wrong with this latest boot, as the III Pros still boast “unbelievable comfort” as well as a better fit than the Speciali R,  that “has been modified to suit the width of a players foot”.  The memory foam tongue, that in the picture above looks like it could be pretty annoying, is apparently “amazingly comfortable”, and is also meant to offer a better touch.
According to our source, there is one downside, Umbro have got rid of the conical studs towards the back of the boot and replaced them with blades. These blades have, on turf surfaces, reportedly been an hindrance rather than a help in all conditions other than while you’re sprinting but other than that all the early signs seem to be positive.  Although the specs that we initially received stated that the Speciali III Pros would have a K-leather upper, it seems Umbro have stuck with kanga touch, which as always has proven to be supremely supple.
