BOOT SPOTTING 7-8 JANUARY FA CUP

With the Premier League taking a break this weekend due to the FA Cup taking centre stage we were treated to a host of boots spots we usually wouldn’t feature on in out boot spot articles. Take a look at some of the best boots spots from a great weekend of FA Cup action.
The draw of the weekend was easily the Manchester derby held at City’s Etihad stadium. There was plenty to talk about after the match but biggest talking point was easily the surprise return of Paul Scholes. The 37-year old returned, after retiring last season, to ease United’s midfield injury crisis wearing Nike T90 Laser IV boots.

Another player returning is Everton’s on loan striker Landon Donovan. Donovan made his second debut last weekend in the Premier League and featured again this weekend. We must the Blue/White/Blue CTR360 Meastri II colourway goes perfectly with his Toffees kit.

We were expecting to see Umbro’s new colourways to make a big splash this weekend but very few players switched to the new colourways. We did get a glimpse of the new Speciali 3 on Stoke’s Wilson Palacios however.

With Palacios in the new Speciali 3 we all kept an eye on John Terry to see if the Chelsea skipper would joined him. We were very surprised to see the England captain – one of Umbro’s main marquee players – was still in Speciali R boots. Perhaps he is waiting to debut them in the Premier League.

When Mario Balotelli traded in his White/Cyber/Black CTR360 Maestri boots we thought we had seen the last of the colourway. However Norwich City’s Chris McCann gave us another chance to see them in action when his side took on Burnley.

Another player showing off an older pair of boots was Barnsley’s Craig Davis. The original Adidas AdiZero changed the world of speed boots and quickly became a popular boot choice with this White/Pink/Black colourway being one of their best.

Very few Adidas AdiPure IV wearers have switched to their latest Black/Silver colourway. We did get to see them on Brighton & Hove Albion’s Kazenga Lua Lua this weekend however.

Kazenga’s older brother Lomana (right) plays for Blackpool where he and fellow Adidas AdiZero MiCoach wearerMatt Phillips showed off just how perfectly the Warning/Black/Electricity colourway matched their Fila home kit.

The Adidas Predator SL more and more seems to be an indication of were Adidas are taking the Predator range, despite the boot being a ‘on the side’ product. The SL has no official on field support but still found its way onto the field thanks to Fleetwood Town’s Jamie Vardy.

We have on occasion had the opportunity to feature Pantofola D’Oro boots before and thanks to Cheltenham’s Sido Jombati we got to again. The Portuguese midfielder wore the Rosso/Brown Edition of the Italian boot crafter’s classic Lazzarini Canguro football boots.
